Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery Delhi is one of the prestigious projects of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India under the Ministry of Commerce to develop and promote the skill to manufacture international quality product.

Formerly known as Jewellery Product Development Centre (JPDC) started in 1986, has done the pioneering work in training manpower in the specialized field of jewellery designing and manufacturing under the guidance and help of Indo-German Export Promotion (IGEP).

This was restructured as Section 8 non-profit company and was rebranded as Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery Delhi (IIGJD), on the lines of other similar educational projects of GJEPC at various parts of the country in the year 2010. IIGJ Delhi is a subsidiary of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

This also took over the training projects in the field of identification and grading of diamonds and colored Gems from other projects of GJEPC like Indian Gemological Institute (IGI) and Gem Testing Lab (GTL).

The institute has its training facility at Jhandewalan Jewellery Complex in the heart of the capital city of Delhi, housed in a fully air-conditioned complex with a total built up area of Approximately 9,000 Sq. Ft.

The campus symbolizes a commitment to quality and dedication to the creative and intellectual needs of the students also fosters the concept of high quality.

The educational aspirations of the students are also promoted in the multi-dimensional energy, exploration and challenges.

The institute in its over 32 years of existence has honed the skills of over 10,000 students who have since passed out from various educational courses.

At IIGJ, a student’s education doesn’t end with the classroom teaching. The institute provides a variety of opportunities for students to enhance and supplement classroom learning with hands on experience in the industry.

The institutes educational programs are well supported by 6 full-time and 7 visiting qualified and experienced faculty.

Five IIGJ projects across India under the GJEPC are constantly reworking towards further upgradation, adopting attest training needs and alignment across all centers to meet the demand of constantly changing need of skill development to match the current and future demands of time.
